FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS
Ayars Family Farm

On a long stretch of road just outside of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, cows graze happily in pastures and rest in cozy barns. Cows are milked, calves fed, and homemade ice cream made fresh here on Ayars Family Farm. John and Bonnie, along with son Lucas own and operate the farm, which has been a family farm since 1972.

Jack and Gladys Ayars, originally from Kansas, made their way to Ohio to start their farm, Land of Living, in the early 1930s. They traveled the country by train, watching the landscape change from the Dust Bowl of Kansas to the rich green fields of western Ohio. For Jack and Gladys, the lush landscape outside of Mechanicsburg was truly the land of living things. They began their farm with a herd of Guernsey cattle, and raised their family just down the road from what is now our home. We changed our name to Ayars Family Farm to reflect our family’s continued commitment to farming together.

We started making ice cream in 2010 after a long period of research and learning. We are excited to offer such a high-quality ice cream in many delicious flavors all developed here on the farm. When Lucas, farm manager and sole ice cream maker, is mixing a batch of ice cream, he can look out the windows of the building and see the cows grazing or relaxing in the barn.

Our farm spans just over a thousand acres of conventionally-grown corn, soybeans, and hay. The heart of our operation is the dairy. We milk 75 cows, both Holsteins and Jerseys, and use the milk to make homemade ice cream on the farm, as well as delicious cheese at a local dairy plant. There’s nothing more important to us than cow care and comfort, and we are proud to offer tours of our farm to showcase our hard work and dedication to our leading ladies.

AYARS FAMILY FARM
A Lifetime of Loving Dairy

Our true passion is the pursuit of life’s experiences. Our life stories are built on the experiences we share, and purebred dairy cattle has been a shared part of our story since childhood. Bonnie grew up with Jerseys, and John’s family showed Guernseys all his life. The cow has served the test of time as a truly unique way to connect with others meaningfully and impactfully.

As a family of dairy farmers and educators, we take every opportunity to share our knowledge and lifestyle with consumers. We offer tours of our farm to show how our animals are cared for every day, as well as how we use the milk our cows make to create delicious ice cream. Our Event Center not only plays host to our farm tours, but is also available to rent, making Ayars Family Farm a beautiful agricultural venue for your next event. We feel strongly that in everything we do, we should strive to share our passion and emotional connection with our cows and the land we farm.
